Venue & function room hire in Bournemouth
Last updated: September 2026
Ashbury Lounge is a private event venue on Bath Road in central Bournemouth, two minutes' walk from the seafront. Hire covers a function room for up to 100 standing or 60 seated, a separate bar for 30 and a garden for 20, quoted as three spaces, never one combined number.
Catering is normally in-house, with halal available. The venue hosts one event at a time. There is no published price list; hire is quoted against your date and numbers.
No obligation … come and see the room, then decide. Or call 01202 144484.
What does a function room mean?
A function room is a private space hired for one booking, not a shared bar area where you happen to have a table. At Ashbury Lounge that means the room, the bar and the garden are quoted as separate spaces, because they get used differently:
- The function room, for up to 100 standing or 60 seated, takes the main event.
- The bar, for 30, handles arrivals or an evening crowd on its own.
- The garden, for 20, gives people somewhere outside.
Whatever you are booking, from a party to a meeting to a reception, the room is yours for the day. It is not shared with another booking down the corridor.
That single-booking structure is deliberate. One function room, one bar, one garden means Ashbury takes one event at a time, so a 40-guest booking gets the same run of the venue as a 100-guest one.

What actually gets booked here?
The room does not specialise in one type of event. Across a single month it might host a wedding reception, a 40th birthday, a christening buffet and a delegate dinner, each one with the building to itself for the day.
The full run of events Ashbury hosts in Bournemouth covers weddings, family celebrations, outdoor garden bookings and corporate functions, all through the same room, bar and garden described on this page, so the right fit is usually just a phone call away.

What it costs, and how hire works
Ashbury Lounge does not publish a price list. There is a hire fee for the room, and it moves with what your event spends on food and drink together: how many guests you have, what you eat and what you drink.
Tell us those and we will give you a tailored figure before you commit to anything.
Bookings generally come in a year or more ahead. A deposit secures the date, a further payment is due six months out and the balance six weeks before the event … worth knowing before you start planning around a specific Saturday.
What about a minimum spend at the bar?
A minimum spend is a figure some venues ask you to commit to at the bar before they will hold a room. Ashbury quotes on a hire fee that moves with your food and drink together instead.
Ask what that looks like for your date and headcount, and we will explain it plainly before you put down a deposit.
What is catering like?
Food is normally cooked in-house, from a stand-up buffet through to a sit-down meal, with halal catering available. If a booking genuinely needs an outside caterer, that is a conversation to have at enquiry rather than a fixed yes or no answered on a page.

Parking and getting here
There is on-site parking, paid on site: 30 spaces, shared with the hotel and first come, first served once they're gone, with two public car parks within a five-minute walk as backup. Central Bournemouth means most of a Dorset guest list, whether that is Bournemouth, Poole or Christchurch, can get here and home again on the same night without booking a room to stay over.

Function room hire sits alongside the rest of what the venue hosts. Ashbury covers weddings, family celebrations and outdoor and garden events from the same building. Say what you are picturing when you call and we will point you to the right one.

Common questions
What does a function room mean?
A function room is a private space hired for your event alone, not a shared table in a bar. At Ashbury Lounge it is quoted separately from the bar and the garden, up to 100 standing or 60 seated, because each space works differently depending on what you are hosting.
How much does it cost to rent a venue in Bournemouth?
We do not publish a price list. Ashbury Lounge charges a hire fee for the room that moves with what you spend on food and drink together, so tell us your date, your numbers and what you have in mind, and we will give you a tailored figure.
What is a minimum spend at a bar?
A minimum spend is a figure some venues ask you to commit to at the bar before they will hold a room. Ashbury works differently: there is a hire fee for the space, and it moves according to what your event spends on food and drink together. Ask what it looks like for your date and headcount and we will explain it plainly.
How do you work out the capacity of a venue?
We quote each space on its own, never adding them together: up to 100 standing or 60 seated in the function room, 30 at the bar, 20 in the garden. Tell us your guest list and we will tell you plainly what fits.
